LAW began her journey into drum ‘n’ bass at the tender age of 15 at the now legendary RAGE club in London’s West End, where she witnessed the birth of hardcore - supplied by DJ’s Fabio & Grooverider. When AWOL started their weekly events at the Paradise Club in Angel, London back in 1993, LAW was inspired enough by resident DJ’s Randall & Mickey Finn to decide to forge a career for herself in the largely male dominated world of drum ‘n’ bass.

She has voluntary edited the drum ‘n’ bass column in The Voice, Britain’s largest circulating black weekly newspaper, since 1997. They approached her to write a regular music column dedicated to drum ‘n’ bass music. This position, which as well as advancing her own career, helps to keep drum ‘n’ bass at the forefront of public consciousness. The column called ‘Reprezentin’ DJ LAW has been instrumental in breaking fresh new underground drum ‘n ‘bass. She also regularly interviews big names from the drum ‘n’ bass scene – and has given many up and coming producers and DJ’s a break.

The second step of her game plan was to secure herself a spot on the world’s no. 1 drum ‘n’ bass station KOOL FM. After a years worth of perseverence, she landed a spot on the station and is a firm part of the infamous Kool family. Here she made many heavyweight industry contacts, gained invaluable experience – and still remains the only female DJ on the station – out of 60 DJ’s!

Through her radio work she has been able to secure DJ sets at the award winning club night ‘Movement’ @ Bar Rhumba, One Nation, United Fever at Astoria, residency at DFX, Pure Science @ Atomics, Dreamscape, Warning, Best of British and Timepiece, Exeter. Internationally at The Tivoli Club, Bremen, Germany, The Roxy, Prague, Czech Republic, The Access Club, Cottbus, Germany, The Kantine Club, Erfurt, Germany, The Forte in Rome, Italy and Planet Hollywood, Hong Kong alongside UK garage dons M-Dubs.

LAW has begun to work on producing her own music, collaborating with THC. She has produced to date five tunes the first entitled ‘Stitch Up’ was released in October 2002 and was supported by many of the scene dons. Drawing on a wealth of influences and like fellow female DJ Rap before her, she represents a new wave of female DJ’s who are holding their own and gaining the respect of their male counter parts.
